The First World War brought about great change to the city, country and of course the CNE. Military occupation of the grounds in what was known as Exhibition Camp became a feature of the fair. With military demonstrations, training drills, weapons and vehicle exhibitions being highlights of the exhibition. Guests could see what their fathers, brothers, and friends would be facing as they trained for war. The overall theme for the fair was Patriotism.
