The 1919 CNE was a celebration of Victory Year, marking the end of the First World War. It was represented in that year’s program cover by Victory riding on a horse adorned with laurels (a symbol of triumph), a soldier by her side and a helmet, similar to one worn by Kaiser Wilhelm II, in position to be stomped by Victory’s horse. After years of anxiety, strife, and danger, the CNE offered the public an opportunity to again experience joy and look towards the future.
